Only seven games into the 2013 season has shown us that this year, the Kansas City Royals are going to play tough and not give up. Even while they were stomping the Phillies into the ground they would not stop tacking on additional runs and punishing the Phillies. I think they were just letting out all the frustration from havin the "Beavis and Butthead Syndrome" by not being able to score during their season opener in Chicago.
The starting rotation really is as strong as advertised. The offense is brutal once they are able to pull it all together. The 2 just need to meet on the same field more often than it has for the last few seasons.
For many years there have been 2 Royals teams that don't like to play on the same field at the same time very often. Many times the pitching is stellar, but the offense forgets to show up. Other days there are more runs in one game than most teams score in a series, but the pitching gave up too much for the onslaught of the bats to overcome.
If this season can see the highlight reel of both aspects of the team converge consistently throughout the next 150+ games - we may just see this team finish above .500 and having a real shot at giving Kansas City some post-season experience it hasn't seen in 28 years.
Let's see if we can keep this roll going and get that .5 game back to return to 1st place.
