There are not nearly as many starting pitchers on the free agent list as people seem to feel that there are. Most of the pitchers available are relievers or closers. But the one starter I feel Dayton More is over looking is Ryan Dempster.
Dempster is the kind of pitcher the Royals need in their rotation. He has 10 years of experience in the MLB, he has 5 consiststant pitches at his disposal, and he has been every kind of pitcher baseball has to offer. He's been a starter, a closer, and everything in between. Plus he holds a perfect .500 record in his 10 year career.
Ryan's experience pitching will help younger remembers of the staff as a guide of leadership and direction. He was also sought after to help the Rangers make it deep into post-season this year. And most people know, some of the most consistent scouting in probaseball is the scouting of the Texas Rangers.
All around, these are great qualities that Kansas City needs more of from their starting pitchers. I think Ryan would be a great addition in Kansas City. I just hope the Royal's head officer sees the same picture as I do before a different team picks up this talented veteran.
