Red Socks at the End of May

by Tim Pafford

If there was to be a series to truly test the Royals as a championship team it was these last four...  The first two games were a couple of the best the Royals have played all season.  They won one by seven, and the other by two.  If they had been able to score they would have won the third and competed in the other.
Billy Butler made plays that socked even those reffing the game from years of experience.  Did you see that line-drive catch that the 1st base ref did not to see until long after Billy had returned to the ground?  Or the run-and-grabs that a guy his size should not be able to do that easily?  I did.  And because of plays like these I see Billy as being one of the key players of the team on both the offence and the defence.  Come on and vote him into the All-Star game!  He has some of the best stats in the AL; but he does not have enough votes to be a contender to play for the second biggest show of the baseball season.  Every Royals fan needs to go and vote.
Even if your pick is not fully on Butler, pick him for 1st base and vote in the rest of your favorite players.  We have to get a Royal on the team.  We have put two great pitchers in for two years in a row.  Lets get in a different position that deserves the recognition too!
